James R. Gerber, 80, of Lapel, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. He was born on September 12, 1944 to Floyd and Edith (Gibbs) Gerber in Noblesville, Indiana.
James retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson after 36 years. He enjoyed camping, Rock Steady Boxing, and the NRA. James also loved watching NASCAR, Bobby Knight & IU Basketball, Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics, the Indianapolis Colts, and WWE Raw.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Gerber; son, Myron Gerber of Pendleton; daughter, Jennifer Gerber of Lapel; grandson, Brandon James Gerber of Fortville; and his twin sister, Janice Wills of Anderson.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Joe Gerber, Josphine Pryor, Jeanette Murphy, Joan Rich, Juanita Nosler, and Walter Gerber; and his beloved dog, Penny, and beloved cat, Larry Bird.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road in Indianapolis. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
