James Rudolph Gore, 86, passed away on December 4, 2024. He was born in rural Bailey County on September 12, 1938 to A.W. "Slats" and Ruth Gore. He attended Circle Back school, then Sudan High School where he graduated. James was known for his practical jokes and always liked to laugh. He was a standout football player in high school and was offered college sports scholarships. He served in the New Mexico National Guard. James enjoyed cotton farming, raising animals, hunting coyotes, and watching westerns and the Dallas Cowboys. Some of his horses raced on New Mexico racetracks, and his greyhounds sold to buyers as far away as California.
James married Robbie Nell Petty in Clovis, New Mexico on August 24, 1963. They lived at Circle Back, Texas and had two children.
James is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patsy Green, his brother Audie Gore, and his son-in-law Robert Fincher. He is survived by his wife, Robbie; his two daughters, Shelley Fincher of Bishop, GA and Tammy (Jack) Brawn of Circle Back, TX; his brother, Rocky Joe (Michele) Gore of Levelland, TX; his two grandchildren, Melanie Fincher and Davis Fincher; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the church and community families who assisted both James and Robbie over many years. Your graciousness, kindness and generosity will not be forgotten. Rusty and Randy Gore were especially tireless in their assistance, always willing to help in whatever way they could.
A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary donations be sent to Circle Back Baptist Church, 1971 FM 298, Sudan, Texas 79371.
