It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James C. Gregory, who departed this life on August 13, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 14, 1934, to Herman and Earline Gregory, James lived a full and vibrant life marked by love, laughter, and dedication to his family and passions.

James was a man of many joys. He found peace in fishing, excitement in dancing, and camaraderie in his senior workout class. A true craftsman, he loved woodworking and spending time on the boat or camping in nature. His work ethic was unmatched, and he continued to find purpose in staying active and engaged throughout his life.

Known for his quick wit and legendary dad jokes, James brought smiles to everyone around him. Sunday dinners were a cherished tradition, where his warmth and humor filled the room and created lasting memories for his loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents Herman D. Gregory and Earline Ainsworth; sisters Jerryline White, Wanda Storey, Mary Hines and Billie Mack; his niece LaWanda White; his grandson Rosco Darton Gregory Jr. and his great-grandchild Alexzander Kain Unger.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Rhoda Gregory, and his children:

Jennifer Jayne Frakes (James)

Thelma Lee Fregia (Joe)

Thurman Lee Finley

He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

James will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
