James Norman Griffin, Sr. of Fargo passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Ruskin, FL to the late Shimmeal and Rosetta McSwain Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a log truck driver and lived in Fargo since 2010 where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also liked to piddle, mowing yards, and especially spending time with his wife.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, John Griffin, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-one years, Dorothy Trackey Griffin of Fargo; six sons and daughters-in-law, Shimmeal T. Griffin of Fargo, James Griffin, Jr. (Teresa) of Illinois, Frank May (Betty) of Willacoochee, Heath Thompson of Homerville, Kevin Thompson (Claudia) of Baxley, GA, and Red Griffin (Tabitha) of Douglas; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa James (Dewayne) of Fargo; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Nathaniel Griffin (Josephine) of Homerville; sister-in-law, Jenny Griffin of Homerville; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 10 am until 2 pm at Stephen C. Foster State Park in Fargo.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
