James Vincent Hackbert, age 57, was born June 2, 1968 in Evergreen Park, IL. He passed away on March 6, 2026 at his home.
He is survived by his loving father, Kenneth Hackbert; his dear sisters, Nancy (Greg) Damiani and Sharon (Erik) Peterson; as well as his nieces and nephews, Justina (Sam) Hathi, Jerilyn (Garrett) Moy, Pete Damiani and Jaime (Nick) DalPolo; and grandnephews, Rahky, Ronin, Rhys and Caleb.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta (nee Bullen) Hackbert; and his brother, Michael Kenneth Hackbert.
Jim enjoyed many sports throughout his life, especially basketball and baseball, and he was an avid golfer. He was also a dedicated fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Bulls, rarely missing the chance to watch his favorite teams play. During his school years in Plainfield, Jim played the drums in the band, developing a lifelong love of music and rhythm. He enjoyed listening to many different types of music and especially loved playing his drums.
Jim worked a variety of jobs over the years, but found particular pride in working in the cabinet business. He was also skilled with his hands, and spent time working alongside his brother-in-law doing electrical work. Outside of work and sports, Jim had a special place in his heart for his dogs, whom he loved dearly.
Visitation will be Friday, March 20 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield.
