James Haig Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 19, 2025.
James Robert "Jimmy" Haig, unexpectedly slipped the bonds of Earth on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 7, 1963 to the late James and Patricia Haig. Jimmy loved all things James Bond, and never missed a movie premiere. A self-proclaimed recovering alcoholic and addict, he spent many years mentoring others and serving in shelters. A jack of all trades, so to speak, Jimmy spent many years writing for the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee newspaper, interviewing celebrities such as Ron Howard. He traveled with Disney on Ice. As an entrepreneur, Jimmy started his own sign making business. Several of his signs could be seen adorning businesses around Appleton. One of his favorite jobs was ushering at the Fox Valley Performing Arts Center, where he had the opportunity to see numerous Broadway shows, including Hamilton, Wicked, and The Lion King. Jimmy even met astronaut, James Lovell, as well as singer, Alice Cooper and several Green Bay Packers football players. He earned his "Civilian Medal of Honor" in Appleton in 2010 for his part in going above and beyond to aid local law enforcement in the apprehension of someone who had committed a crime. In his spare time, Jimmy could be found watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, along with smoking good cigars on his patio or singing karaoke somewhere on The Avenue. He was a gentle spirited friend to all, and he will be missed by many.

Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Maureen and Jamie; brother and sister-in-law, Michael "Mike" and June and together they would all agree that Jimmy was an outstanding uncle to Michele, Trish, Rob "Robbie", Chloe, Matt, and Anjel. His good friend and other brother, Mark, can attest that Jimmy was also a doggy daddy to Frankie and Zuri over the years, as well as a caretaker of wildlife outside his apartment.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Coleen; brother-in-law, Erven Edge; his brother, Timothy "Timmy" and his sister, Kathleen "Kathy".

Jimmy's family will hold a private memorial remembrance celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fox Valley or Wisconsin Humane Society, or any local animal shelter.
