James Hallberg Obituary

He married the love of his life, Donna Hallberg, with whom he shared 52 years of abiding love and shared adventures. Together they raised Melissa (Jim) Miller and James Hallberg, Jr., who were the pride of his life. He was blessed by being a Boppa to Lucas Miller and Madison Miller. He loved with his whole heart, and those he loved always felt safe, supported, and valued in his presence.
He proudly served his country after being drafted into the Vietnam War, where he served in the United States Navy. His service was a point of modest pride throughout his life, a testament to his sense of duty, courage, and integrity. He remained a faithful patriot even after his service impacted his vitality and health later in life.
Though humble in spirit, his impact on others was immeasurable. He found true joy in making others feel encouraged, loved and had a way of turning ordinary moments into cherished memories filled with laughter.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service commencing at 11:00 am at Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, 607 W Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL, 60030, with luncheon to follow.

Our heartfelt condolences to Donna and the family. We remember his kindness in moving us from Illinois to northwest Wisconsin years ago. We treasure memories of the family at St. Mark Lutheran and their continued relationship with our Illinois family members. Love and prayers to you.
