James Robert Hansen passed away on June 24, 2025, he was being taken care of at Mom and Dad's Assisted Living in Tucson, AZ, his body just quit working.

He was born on November 12, 1936, in Bisbee, Arizona to James Robert Sr and Winifred Jowles Hansen. After two years of college, he went to work for SSVEC.

He married Bertha Brown, and they were married for 31 years. They divorced when he was 51 and later married Trudy Kempton. This marriage lasted less than a year. On May 22, 1999, he married Nona Black. They had been married 26 years when he passed away.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Benson. He served as a volunteer firefighter for over 40 years. He was the Assistant Fire Chief on the Benson Fire Department. He also volunteered at the Kartchner Caverns State Park accruing 32,000 service hours driving the Tram up and down the hill.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Bertha.

He is survived by his wife Nona Black Hansen and her children.

His children, Cynthia (Tony) Rivera and her sons David (Samantha) Rivera and Aaron (Melissa) Rivera. His daughter, Patricia (Mark) Archer, her children J.D. (Katrina) Hansen Leann (Larry) Vance.

Pallbearers at the service were Aaron Rivera, David Rivera, J.D. Hansen, Jason D. Sherman, Lyne A. Sherman, RandE S. Sherman, Garrett E. Sherman, Jeremy D. Sherman, and Branson C. Sherman.

He is now resting peacefully in the Cochise Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Benson, Arizona.
