James R. "Jim" Hardock, 67, of Aberdeen, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Arbor Terrace in Shrewsbury.
Born in Pottsville, PA, to the late Michael and Margaret Hardock, Jim's Pennsylvania roots instilled in him a lifelong passion for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He built a dedicated career as a software engineer for Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ.
Jim was a devoted family man and a cherished friend. He married his loving wife, Kathleen "Kathy," on September 21, 1985. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, playing in the Bell Labs basketball and softball leagues, and coaching his sons' basketball and baseball teams for many years.
He and Kathy shared a love for travel, beginning with their honeymoon in Europe and often returning to one of their favorite destinations, California. At home, Jim loved spending sunny days at the Sandy Hook beaches, always holding a season pass. He loved a good meal and would take his family to New York City for steak dinners. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing a good practical joke as his colleagues all knew. Jim is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Hardock; his children, Dana Venutolo and her husband Joseph, Keith Hardock, and Christopher Hardock; and Jim's brother, Michael Hardock. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Hardock.
Family and friends are invited to honor Jim's life at the following services:
* Memorial Visitation: Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Day Funeral Home, 301 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735.
* Memorial Mass: Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Benedicts Church, Holmdel, NJ with lunch to follow at Yesterday's Restaurant in Hazlet.
