Publish in a newspaper

James "Jim" Hartfiel-a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandpa, and loyal friend-was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025.

Jim was born on May 21, 1948, in New London to the late Henry and Lola (Kriese) Hartfiel. He grew up with a love for sports and enjoyed baseball, fast pitch softball, bowling, golfing, and wrestling, passions that stayed with him throughout his life.

Jim shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Lynn. Together they raised three sons-Troy (Shannon), Curtis (Christy), and Brett (Camila)-and were blessed with grandchildren Kaylee, Harper, and Jackson James, who brought endless joy to his days.

Jim will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Larry Hartfiel (Chris), sister Judy Fox (Dan), brother-in-law Allen Diem (Cindy), sisters-in-law Sandy Kloehn (Richard), Jan Klatt (John), and Judy Gorges (Mike), along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends who cherished his love and humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lola Hartfiel; his sisters Jane and Barbara Hartfiel; his grandfather Art Kriese; his mother and father-in-law Clarence and Elaine Diem; and his niece Erin Hartfiel.

Jim's life was defined by faith, family, and friendship. He had a gentle spirit, a quick smile, and a way of making those around him feel valued and loved.

The Memorial Service for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville with Rev. Tristan Paustian officiating. The visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Hortonville.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the oncology teams at ThedaCare Cancer Center - Appleton and University of Minnesota and Fairview.
