Jim left us peacefully on September 10, 2025 surrounded by family at the age of 81. He lived a life full of laughter, love, and a genuine joy for connecting with others.

Jim was an avid golfer who loved sports. He also loved movies and even had a brief stint as an actor. His love for animals, especially dogs, was profound; any dog lucky enough to cross his path found a fast friend in him. He had a talent for striking up conversations with strangers and his charisma was undeniable. A born salesman in his earlier years, his stories - often hilarious, always heartfelt - will be treasured by those who were lucky enough to hear them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marge, nee Hecht; Devoted father of Jim (Ann), Mike (Katy), and Susan Helsdingen; Cherished grandpa of Mia, Henry, Erin, Cameryn, and Finn; Beloved brother of the late Dan (late Fran) Helsdingen, and the late Jane (late John) Kunka; Dear brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many; Proud U.S. Marine Vietnam Veteran.

Visitation Sunday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL. Funeral Monday, all family and friends will meet directly at St. Julie Billiart Church, 7399 W. 159th St. Tinley Park, IL; Mass 10:00 a.m.; Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery; For Funeral info: (708) 422-2700, or www.curleyfuneralhome.com.
