James A. Hines, 74, of Gouldsboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on October 2, 1951 in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late William and Betty (Burnham) Van Why and lived in the Monroe County area for most of his life.

Jim was raised in East Stroudsburg and graduated from East Stroudsburg High School where he played football and wrestled. After high school he served in the United States Air Force.

He was a licensed real estate broker and also a counselor at Alino Lodge in New Jersey.

Surviving are three sisters, Wilma Transue and husband Donald of Sciota, Virginia Hardy of Stroudsburg and Sharon Bogart of East Stroudsburg; a half-sister, Sara Bogart of Tannersville; two grandchildren, Braxton Hines of Reading, OH and Stephen Hines of Wind Gap; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason "Jay" W. Hines, a sister, Georgiana Corbett and a brother, William Hines.
As per his wishes, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William H. Clark Funeral Home in Stroudsburg to help defray cremation expenses.

Jim, you have made your final flight into the wild blue yonder´s. You are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Have a smooth flight airman.
