James Isaac Hobson Jr. 79, a lifelong resident of Connersville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 6, 2024. He was born on January 14, 1945, the son of the late James Hobson Sr. and Genevieve "Ginny" Steele Hobson Martin.
James was better known by "Jim" or "Buddy" to his friends and family. He was also known as "Jimpa" by his grandchildren. Jim had his CDL license and delivered for Connersville Paint Company for 30 years. After retiring from the paint company, he helped transport vehicles for several dealerships.
Jim took great pride in being a Freemason of the Warren Lodge No. 15 since 1971. He was recently awarded the Indiana Award of Gold. Jim was also a member of the Connersville Fraternal Order of Eagles for many years.
Jim liked going to area flea markets and collected several unique items. He loved working in his garden during his younger years. He enjoyed drinking his morning coffee with his buddies daily, at several local restaurants for many years. Jim had a laugh larger than life and was always joking.
Jim is survived by his sister Thelma (Larry) Walters of Dublin, IN, and his sons; James "Jimmy" (Diana) Hobson of Tucson, AZ, Derrick (Kathy) Hobson of Connersville, and Chris (Stephanie) Hobson of Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his grandchildren, Kasidy Hobson-Mullins and Blake (Sadi) Hobson of Connersville and great grandchildren Gavin Mullins and Norah Hobson of Connersville. Jim is also survived by several additional grandchildren and great grandchildren who reside out of state. Jim enjoyed spending time at his son Derrick's home. He was a man of few words, but he was proud of Derrick and his family, often complimenting their accomplishments. He really liked visiting his grand-dog Tucker, it was always a tossup on who was happier to see the other.
Friends and family may gather on Thursday August 15, 2024 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Urban Winkler Funeral Home located at 513 W 8th Street Connersville, IN. A funeral service officiated by Bishop Dan Parker will begin at 6:00PM.
