James "Darrell" Hodge, born on July 29, 1960, to the late Julius and Katherine Hunsucker Hodge, passed away on September 19, 2024, at Iredell Health Hospital in Statesville.
As a self-employed individual, Darrell devoted himself to his work with an admirable spirit. However, it was his love for his family that truly defined him. He cherished his role as a father and grandfather, taking immense joy in his daughter, Ashley Scheidegger, and his granddaughter, Caroline. Known for his generous nature, Darrell had a special affinity for spoiling all the kids during the Christmas season, creating memories that will be treasured by those lucky enough to have shared in his festive spirit.
Darrell's vibrant personality shone brightly in his love for the outdoors, where he found peace and solace. He was also a beloved companion to his pet dog, Hurricane, who remained a steadfast presence in his life.
In addition to his daughter and granddaughter, Darrell's legacy will continue through the love and memories shared by his surviving family members, including his sister, Cathy Hudson (Danny), and his brothers: Jay Hodge (Rhonda), John Hodge (Barbara), Allan Hodge (Evey), and Randy Hodge. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Julia Dixon and Nona McDonald.
A family and friends gathering to honor Darrell's life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, North Carolina 28120.
