James R. Holloway, Jr., age 65 of Shirley, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025. He was the husband of the late Katherine (Vandal) Holloway, who died in 2009.

Born in Seoul, South Korea on April 3, 1960, he was the son of the late James R. Holloway, Sr., and Kisoon “Kim” Holloway.

Jim was raised and educated in Ayer, MA graduating from Ayer high school. He later attended and graduated from University of Lowell (now UMASS) earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Jim enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1985-1992 and continued on in the Air Force Reserves until 2000.

Jim and Katherine married on October 16, 2004, in Mt. Vernon, NH, and made their home in Brattleboro, VT. Upon her death, Jim moved back to his hometown of Ayer, MA.

Jim had a long career as a business administrator with the United States Government. He enjoyed fishing, especially freshwater fishing with his closest friend, Len Langford. Len and Jim were like brothers who worked and fished together for over 40 years. Jim enjoyed the company of many close friends. He was a kind soul who loved to laugh and always saw the positive. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sister, Debra K. Holloway of Shirley, MA., and Annette Ladd of Little Compton, RI., as well as his nieces and nephews. In addition to Jim's wife and parents, he is also predeceased by his sister Tammy Palmer of Macon, GA.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Jim for a memorial service on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA. Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon, will be private.

Donations in his memory may be made to Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry.
