James Allen Hood, 76, passed away on Saturday, August 30th at Piedmont Medical Center.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther Morris Hood and Lili Mae Hood, Elizabeth Smith, along with his father, Morris Allen Hood and mother, Betty Jo Barr Black and stepfather, William C. Black.

Jim is survived by his wife Margaret Ellen Hood; his sons, Brenton Allen Hood (Lori), Bradley Dale Hood (Christie); his stepson, Shawn Kyle and stepdaughter, Audra Kyle; his beloved grandchildren, Jared Hood, Evan Hood, Jaelyn Kyle and Garron Deason.

Jim was a member of the first graduation class of Independence High School (1967). After graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served his country proudly. Jim was a Vietnam veteran serving with the Marines on the DMZ, Cohtien, Roch Pile and other hot spots. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbons, Presidential Unit Citation and Good Conduct Medal along with other ribbons.

The things Jim enjoyed most was his family and friends. He was a firm believer in the constitution and the words of JFK "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." And finally, SEMPER FI.

The family will be receiving and welcome friends at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel in Rock Hill, SC on Saturday, September 6 th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00PM.

Jim will be buried at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229 with military honors present on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 10:00AM.
