James Hood Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Banks/Page-Theus Funerals and Cremations on Nov. 11, 2025.
James Lamar Hood, 66, of Oxford, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025. Born May 30, 1959, to Thomas and Mary Alice (Phillips) Hood, James grew up in Florida and attended Wildwood High School.

James was a hardworking man who spent his career building fences in the construction industry. His hands told the story of a life dedicated to honest work, and his quiet strength earned the respect of everyone who knew him. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes-always dependable, always steady.

In his younger years, James found joy in the outdoors. Whether casting a line on a quiet lake or tracking through the woods, fishing and hunting were more than hobbies-they were his way of connecting with nature and finding peace. Those who knew James will remember his unwavering work ethic, his humble spirit, and the way he carried himself with dignity and grace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Patricia Phillips and Barbara Hood.

James leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his brother, Tommy Hood; sister, Margaret Hood; cousin, Lisa Rainey; nieces, Sarah and Robin Hood; and many other cousins, nieces, and dear friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of strength and simplicity will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Pine Level Cemetery in Oxford, Florida.

The family kindly requests that any donations to assist with burial expenses be made directly to Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home, 410 Webster St., Wildwood, FL. Phone: 352-748-1000.

Arrangements are entrusted to Banks/Page-Theus Funerals and Cremations, Wildwood. Online condolences may be shared at https://www.bankspagetheus.com.
