James Williston Horne

James Williston Horne (71) of Glastonbury, CT passed away peacefully on October 6, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
James was a kind and loving man who took great pride in his Scottish heritage. He was born to his late parents Lewis Franklin Horne and Patricia Williston Campbell on December 4, 1950 in Holyoke MA. While raised in Holyoke, James enjoyed many years at Black Point Beach in Niantic, CT. These years gave way to wonderful memories with family and friends. In his younger years James enjoyed tennis, fishing, boating, soccer, and alpine skiing.
James graduated in 1970 from Hoosac School in NY and attended Franklin Pierce College. He had a love for design and construction and later founded J.W. Horne Construction Company. James finished his career with Enfield Enterprises Inc as an Estimator.
In his spare time, James loved to write. He authored a collection of short stories titled Toad's Tales that he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren. James also published his first book "Rainbow Tails Uncut" on Kindle in 2013. James enjoyed time with his family and adored his dog Maggie.
James is survived by his daughter Jessica Hajdasz (Brian), son Patrick Horne (Nicole), his stepdaughters Jayne Morrell (Matt), Miranda Dial (Joe), and Beth McDevitt (Nick), his brother Jon Horne and his former wife Margaret Otto. His heart was also filled with love and joy by his many grandchildren, Meghan, Tyler, Ethan, Julia, Matthew, Logan, Jack, Olivia, Merek, Aubrey, and Ace. In addition to his many nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased in death by his wife Patricia Harlan-Horne of 27 years. Also by his son Michael Horne and daughter Emily Anne Horne.
The family would like to thank Touchpoints of Farmington and their care team for their support James in the last few years. In addition, UConn Health for their remarkable care and support at the time of James' passing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in his honor. Calling hours will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4:00 pm -6:00 pm at Molloy Funeral Home in West Hartford CT. Burial services for James will be private and held at a later date in Deerfield, MA. Donations in his memory may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1111 Cromwell Ave., Building #3, Suite 302, Rocky Hill, CT 06067
