James Truette "Jimmy" Howard, Jr.
Thursday, June 14, 1951 – Friday, November 29, 2024
James Truette "Jimmy" Howard, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by his close family on November 29, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on June 14, 1951, to the late James "Truette" Howard, Sr. and Edna Lowie Howard, Jimmy was a cherished member of his community, known for his warm and welcoming spirit.
Jimmy shared over 53 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Janie (Jones) Howard. Together, they built a loving family, raising two children, Jay Howard (married to Shana, residing in Indonesia) and Jill Yawn of Helena, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy continues through his 8 grandchildren, all of whom he adored deeply, who affectionally called him "Prampy", Luke and Bella Yawn, and Truette, Phoebe, Lola, Hazel, George, and Abe Howard.
Jimmy is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Howard Brown (Donnie), and Ken Howard (Harriet) all of Helena, who remember him fondly.
A talented musician and singer, Jimmy's passion for music was evident. His performances were not just about the music but about bringing people together, making everyone feel loved and included. He was often described as the life of the party, a testament to his vibrant personality and generous heart.
Throughout his life, Jimmy (also known as "Prampy" to many others) touched hearts with his humor, kindness and enthusiasm. His ability to make those around him feel cherished and valued was a gift that will be remembered by all of his friends and family.
In honoring Jimmy's life, we celebrate a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and brought joy to all who knew him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, forever cherished and never forgotten.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Rev. Roswell Chapman will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM in the chapel. Interment will be held at the Helena City Cemetery following the service.
**In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Jimmy Howard be made to the building fund of Helena Baptist Church, 303 7th St, McRae-Helena, GA 31037, (229) 868-5404. **
