Obituary published on Legacy.com by Slay Memorial Funeral Center - Aubrey on Jan. 29, 2026.
James "Jay" Rendon Howard of
Dallas, Texas passed away, Sunday, January 25, 2026. He
was born to Charles and Mellie Jo Rendon Howard, May 26, 1953, in
Corsicana, Texas and
married Denise Shontel Peterson May 30, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a proud
father of his daughter, Hannah Jean Howard.
Jay discovered Slot Car racing when he lived in
Lake Charles, LA, and when he moved to
Wichita Falls TX, his passion for them really began. He spent every weekend at the track,
developing life-long friends and a love of racing, community, and fun.
Jay moved to
Hurst, TX his senior year of high school, and it was those little slot cars
again that made moving just a bit easier.
He was lucky to turn his passion into a career and into a family that sustained him for the
rest of his life.
A loving husband, father, and brother, James "Slot Man" Howard found true happiness
in bringing joy to others, and he did so with great conversation, unending love and the
best hugs his daughter, Hannah, could ask for.
So, whether you knew him as James, as Jay, or as Papa, you knew one of the most caring
and genuine people around.
The family will receive friends during visitation, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:00AM
at the First Baptist Church in Kerens, Texas with a funeral service following at 12:00PM
with the Rev. Roger Marsh officiating. Burial will take place at Kerens City Cemetery, 725 CR 0185,
Kerens, TX after the service is completed.
