James (Jim) Ray Hugunin
On June 11, 2024 Jim was no longer able to live without his loving wife of 58 years Mary Ann (Wilson) Hugunin and joined her after her passing on May 25, 2024.
Jim was born on September 8th,1947 at Kansas City, Kansas the son of James Milton and Ann Esther
(Stroud) Hugunin.
Jim and Mary Ann were married in Kansas City, Kansas on December 11, 1965. They made their home in Kansas City where Jim worked at Faultless Starch until they moved their family to Burlington in 1974. After their move Jim worked for Decker Construction before he started working for Daniels when Wolf Creek was being built. After that work was completed he received his GED from Humboldt High School in 1985 and then started working in several positions for the Coffey County Sheriff's office until his retirement in 2010.
Jim and Mary Ann were very involved with several different activities over the years with their kids. Later they both enjoyed biking where he rode in the Biking Across Kansas ride every June for several years, with Mary Ann joining him by being one of the support SAG Hag's.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Sandra Davidson and Patricia Stout a brother-in- law Harvey Eccles, an infant daughter, Lisa; an infant granddaughter, Faith Zlab and an infant great grandson Declan Zlab.
He leaves his children Christine Zlab (Ron), Gridley, KS, Jimmy Hugunin (Jenifer) Burlington and Kerri Hugunin (Brian Steffens), Burlington, KS, grandchildren, Corey Hugunin, Hailey Hugunin both of Burlington, Andrea Zlab (Trever Vahsholtz), Liberty, MO, Katelin Zlab (Carlos Morales) Emporia, Erika Steffens (Augustus Farthing) and Ty Steffens, both of Burlington, four great grandchildren Lydia and Evalee Gifford, Rowan and Kayson Zlab, a daughter and son by heart, Tone Lise Bardset and Stale Bardset, Norway, two brothers, Jerry Hugunin, Waverly, Tom Hugunin (Shelli), Burlington, two sisters Kathy Eccles, Burlington and Dixie Moon, Emporia. Two brother-in-laws Bill Stout, Burlington and Mac Davidson, Fort Pierce, Florida, a number of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial services for both will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Bailey Cemetery north-west of Burlington.
Following graveside family and friends will gather at the home of Jimmy and Jenifer Hugunin, 1079 Lynx Lane, Burlington, KS 66839, to celebrate the lives of Jim and Mary Ann Hugunin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington KS 66839.
