Mary Ann Hugunin, 77, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born December 21, 1946, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Lawrence and Marjorie May (Simmons) Wilson. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Turner High School in 1965.
On December 11, 1965, she and James Ray "Jim" Hugunin were married at Kansas City. They made their home in Kansas City where Mary Ann was a secretary for the IRS. In 1974 they moved to Burlington and Mary Ann worked at Dave's Cleaners, and Indian Plains Golf Course in the restaurant.
In her spare time she enjoyed camping, working in her yard, playing the piano, and serving as a Sag Hag for Bike Across Kansas for several years.
She was a member of the Burlington Christian Church where she served as organist for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Lisa; an infant granddaughter, Faith Zlab and an infant great grandson, Declan Zlab.
She leaves Jim, her husband of more than 58 years; her children, Christine Zlab (Ron), Gridley, KS, Jimmy Hugunin (Jenifer), and Kerri Hugunin (Brian Steffens), both of Burlington; grandchildren, Corey Hugunin, Hailey Hugunin, Andrea Zlab (Trever Vahsholtz), Katelin Zlab (Carlos Morales), Erika Steffens (Augustus Farthing), and Ty Steffens; four great-grandchildren, Lydia and Evalee Gifford, Rowan and Kayson Zlab; a daughter and son by heart, Tone Lise Bardset and Stale Bardset, Norway; a sister, Carole Manis, KC, KS; god son, Henrik; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Bailey Cemetery north-west of Burlington.
Following the graveside family and friends will gather at the home of Jimmy and Jenifer Hugunin, 1079 Lynx Lane, Burlington, KS 66839, to celebrate the life of Mary Ann Hugunin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
