James Madison Humphrey, aged 95, passed away on April 5, 2024, at his residence in the New Salem community of Lookout Mountain.

A Graveside service to celebrate the life of James will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Brother Steve Wells officiating.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 9th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home.

James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, and United States Army Veteran. He held the honor of being the oldest resident of the New Salem Community. James dedicated many years to working for the Moccasin Bushing Co, Dade County School system, and Mark's painting. He was a member of Mission Glen Baptist Church in Rossville, GA. Known for his friendly nature, he was a friend to many and his presence will be greatly missed.

James is survived by his children: James Howard (Elizabeth Jackson) Humphrey, Jim (Dede) Humphrey, Alan (Donna) Humphrey; grandchildren: Annaleigh (Jordan) Conley, Corey and James Hayes; great-grandchild: Kimber Madison Conley; as well as several other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Humphrey; parents, James Humphrey and Frankie Humphrey-Shelton; and brothers, Claiborn and Roy Humphrey.
