James Horton Hunter, age 71, of Speedwell, Tennessee, passed away, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loved ones, on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Born November 16, 1954, to the late Hester Hunter, James devoted his life to being a loving son, bother, husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing; and in his spare time, he loved to whittle. James will surely be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Other than his mother, preceding him in death are two sisters, Rachel Hunter and Tara B. Fowler; and four brothers, Clifford (Gail) Hunter, Jefferson Hunter, Ronnie (Kay) Mulneix and Michael Fowler.
Survivors include his beloved wife of forty- nine years, Brenda Joy Hunter; three children, James Daniel (Susan) Hunter, Joy Danielle (Jesse) Johnson and Jacqueline Nicole Hunter; six siblings, Charles Clyde (Dawn) Massengill, Shawn Alex (Sarah) Mulneix, Ronnie Eugene (Jennifer) Massengill, Lawrence Eric (Dawn) Mulneix, Robin Elizabeth (Alva) Wilder and Robin Gay (Frank) DeLauer; eighteen grandchildren, Alexis McDaniel, Austin McDaniel, Jeremiah Hunter, Sidney Hunter, Bradley Hunter, Kourtney Hunter, Breanna Hunter, Jocelyn Hunter, Summer Honeycutt, Nicholas Johnson, Katie Johnson, Brittany Hurst, Melanie Fowler, Kristen Fowler, Bailee Fowler, Maraylee Fowler, Anna Degener and Tristan Venable; seven great grandchildren, Gracie, Kyson, Amaya, Skylar, Raylan, Karma and Nola; and a host of several nieces and nephews.
Private Cremation Services are being cared for by Arnett & Steele Cremation Center.
