James Henry "Jimmy" Iliff, Jr., 87, of Keyser, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.

Born on September 25, 1937, in Keyser, WV, he was the son of James Henry Iliff, Sr., and Isabella Pennington. He was also blessed with a stepmother, Mary (Miller) Iliff who also preceded him in death. Mr. Iliff was the last member of his immediate family.

Jimmy was a 1956 graduate of Keyser High School, where he held the remarkable record of never missing a single day of school in 12 years. Following school, he served in the National Guard from 1954-56. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and distinction during the Vietnam War until his discharge in 1966.

In his professional and personal life, Jimmy was a dedicated member of several organizations, including Cornerstone Ministries in McCoole, MD, Lodge # 662, Loyal Order of Moose, Keyser, Boyce-Houser Post # 41, American Legion, and Nancy Hanks Post # 3518, VFW.

A man of simple pleasures, Jimmy loved fishing, watching television, and spending time with his family, especially during family functions. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and for always putting his family first. He had a special place in his heart for WVU Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Steelers games, and he loved watching Nascar races.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Virginia (Hudson) Iliff, and their four sons, Mitchell Iliff of Keyser, Michael Iliff of Jacksonville, FL, Mark Iliff of Keyser and Matthew Iliff of Petersburg, WV. Jimmy is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Crites and her children, Chasity, Nathan, Tyler, and Brandon Crites of Keyser; three brothers-in-law, David Lewis and wife Kellie of New Creek, WV, Benjamin Hudson of Charles Town, WV and John Hudson of Beckley, WV; two cousins; very close friends with the Coffee Gang at McDonald's, Paul Mattes, Dave Conrad and wife Marsha and Carl Arnold and his canine companion "DayDay."

A memorial service will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Allen officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

James Henry "Jimmy" Iliff, Jr. was a man of service, kindness, and love. He touched many lives with his generosity and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
