Phyllis A. Lyon

Phyllis Ann Lyon. 79, formerly of New Creek Highway, Keyser, WV, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas, WV.

Born on October 12, 1945 in Keyser, WV, she was a daughter of the late Eldridge C. and Wilda M. (Dolly) Kesner. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert C. "Bobby" or "Red" Lyon on January 26. 2011; a brother, Richard "Dick" Kesner and a sister, Karen Lyon.

Mrs. Lyon graduated from Keyser High School and formerly worked at the G.C. Murphy Store in Keyser as one of the "Murphy Girls." She was a trusted and talented baby sitter for many years for both relatives and friends alike. She also was a member of the Sunnyside Covenant Brethren Church, New Creek, where she was a dedicated Sunday school teacher and choir member.

Surviving is a sister-in-law, Dotty Kesner of Keyser; two nephews, Craig Kesner and wife Trina and Brian Kesner and wife Tracy; grandnieces and nephews, Kirk Kesner and wife Danielle, Danielle Combs and husband Justin, Whitney Umstot and husband Brad, Curtis Kesner, Kaelyn Kesner and Alexis Kesner and a very special young lady who was like a daughter, Erin (Kalbaugh) Heise.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Sunnyside Covenant Brethren Church, New Creek, on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, WV.
