James Wayne Johnson Sr. age 82 of Ider, Alabama, passed away at his home on Monday, July 28, 2025. Funeral services are Friday, August 1, 2025 at 4 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Fuller cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM CT on Thursday and 2 PM until service time on Friday.
James was born on March 30, 1943 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to parents, Casey Delight and Joyce Ruth Walker Johnson. He had worked 35 years as a Boilermaker with Local 679.
Survivors include wife of 62 years, Susan Elaine Johnson, children, Darlene Jackson(Ron), Jamie Johnson, Jeremy Johnson(Kelly), grandchildren, Jeff Jackson(Brittany), Jennifer Jackson, Madison Shrader(Jake), Logan Johnson(Cheyenne), Lilly Johnson, great-grandchildren, Hudson, Cora, Laiklyn, Ansley, Grayson, Jedson, siblings, Gloria Lawson, Angel Johnson, Grail Johnson(Delores), Claudette Johnson, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. J was a devoted husband, dad and granddad who had an unwavering loyalty, and a deep love for his family. That legacy of love lives on in the family he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and their spouses, Jean Shull, Cohen Johnson, Gary Johnson, Brenda Pryor(Wayne), David Johnson(Janice), Kenneth Johnson(Linda), nephews, Terry Shull, Nathan Shull, John Capps and niece, Jessica Pryor.
