James Edward Jackson, lovingly known as “Buddy,” passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at the age of 84, born on January 4, 1941, in Indianapolis IN.
Buddy also grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he attended Crispus Attucks High School.
A proud veteran, Buddy served his country during the Korean War. The discipline, courage, and resilience he gained through his service shaped the man he would become — steady, loyal, and deeply committed to those he loved.
Buddy married the love of his life, Mildred “Millie” Jackson, and together they built a strong, enduring family. He was a devoted husband and a dedicated father, raising not only his biological children but also those he chose with his heart. To Buddy, family was defined by love, not blood.
He worked at Chrysler for more than 30 years before retiring — a true testament to his work ethic, dependability, and perseverance. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing his lottery numbers, spending time with family and friends, and watching basketball. Buddy was a proud fan of the San Antonio Spurs and never missed a chance to cheer them on.
Buddy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred “Millie” Jackson; his sons Patrick Kelly, Kim “Heavy” Kelly, and Michael Jackson. Though he carried the weight of their loss, the comfort now is knowing they are reunited.
He is survived by his sons Dana Jackson and Darin Jackson, his brother Ronnie Jackson, a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones who will remember his easy laugh, steady spirit, and the dependable presence he offered throughout his life.
James “Buddy” Jackson lived a life rooted in service, commitment, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever honored by all who knew him.
