James "Jamie" Dewayne Beard, 50, passed away on May 18, 2024, at his home in Kemp, Texas. He was born on December 4, 1973, in Athens, Texas to parents James Wayne Beard and Mary Nell (Sawyer) Ashton.

Jamie brought endless joy and laughter into the lives of those around him. His love for a good time meant no one was safe from his teasing but it was all in good fun.
Jamie had a passion for wrestling that ran deep in his veins. He not only followed it religiously but also had the honor of serving as a referee for Elvis' North Texas Wrestling Alliance, where he went by the name “Shawn Hunter.” His enthusiasm for the sport was contagious, and he could talk about wrestling for hours on end. “Jamie was a good guy in and out of the ring,” according to Elvis, and he will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jamie is preceded in death by his father, James Wayne Beard; paternal grandparents, Odie James and Lucille Beard and his maternal grandparents, T.A. and Dorothy Sawyer.

He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Nell Ashton of Kemp, Texas; sisters, Amy Wilson and husband Brandon of Kemp, Texas, and Alisha Ashton of Kemp, Texas; nieces, Brea Wilson and husband Avery of Frisco, Texas, Brooklin Wilson and husband Ryan of Corsicana, Texas, and Brendi Wilson of Kemp, Texas; nephew, Aiden Ashton of Kemp, Texas; as well as numerous other cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
