David Wayne Smith, 66, of Kemp, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2026. David was born on August 22, 1959, in Kaufman, Texas, to Clifton Jr. and Jimmie Lou Smith. He grew up in Kemp and graduated from Kemp High School in 1977.
On February 5, 1983, he married Robin Smith, and they shared 43 loving years together.
David worked in sales throughout his career, offering a variety of merchandise and services. He enjoyed spending time with his cattle and going fishing. David loved spending time with his family, especially around a good meal. He also enjoyed traveling to historic places and museums, as he was a history buff.
David was a member of the Church of Christ in Kemp, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Jr. and Jimmie Lou Smith; his son, Samuel Clifton Smith; and his sister, Deborah Doss.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Robin; children: Courtney Kelley and husband Clint, Melissa Smith, John David Smith, and Kyle Kimberling and wife Kristina; grandchildren: Caroline Kelley, Charles Kelley, Mason Dickerson, and Tripp Smith; siblings: Regina Kiser and Carla Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
