Jackson, SC – Mr. James Kennedy "Jay" Jarrett, Jr., 47, entered into rest March 24,
2024. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Cowden
Plantation with Rev. Brian Henderson and Rev. Jody Robinson officiating. A private
interment will follow in the Cowden Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends
prior to the service at Cowden Plantation in the Finn Building from 1 until 3 o'clock.
Jay was born October 24, 1976, to James "Kenny" Jarrett, Sr. and the late Linda Gayle
Hartline Jarrett. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson, SC, and a graduate of Silver
Bluff High School. Throughout his life Jay attended Matlock Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Jackson, and most recently was involved in the Cowden Fellowship. Jay
followed in his father's footsteps as a craftsman and co-owner of Jarrett Rifles but he
was truly a farmer at heart. He had a strong work ethic and never minded getting his
hands dirty. Jay managed and operated Cowden Plantation Farms, LLC and as an avid
outdoorsman, he loved helping others experience nature and the sport of hunting. He
enjoyed facilitating and hosting special hunts at Cowden Plantation for law enforcement, veterans, and children. Witnessing the thrill of hunters, especially children, when they harvest their first animal brought him immense joy. Jay was a selfless servant and had a heart of gold, always seeking an opportunity to help those in need. He was known as a jokester and will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to bring a smile to everyone he met. Jay's greatest joy in life was his family. He was proud of his sons and always celebrated their accomplishments.
In addition to his mother, Jay was preceded in death by his sister, Rissa Nicole Jarrett;
his grandparents, Henry and Anne Hartline, Mary Amelia Smith, James Cook Jarrett,
and Jerrell M. Brown; and an uncle, Charles Hartline.
Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include two sons, James K. Jarrett
III and John Taylor Jarrett; his father, James "Kenny" Jarrett Sr.; his brother, Cain
Jarrett; his uncle, Jerry Hartline, two aunts, Connie Meeker and Mary Ann Laurey; and
his girlfriend, Carolyn Wright.
Pallbearers will be Tom Galardi, Philip Jhant, Ryght Jordan, Scott Mitchell, Andy Muns,
Gerry Saggus, Adam Sullivan, Dan Sullivan
