James Dewaker Jayaraj was born to the late James Jayaraj and Sakuntala Ratnavathy, a retired military officer and principal in Chennai, India on October 8th, 1958. He attended Don Bosco school and was immersed in the Methodist church community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. He was a top ranked student and graduated from Guindy Engineering College in 1980 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and accepted a position at Hindustan Motors following college in Chennai. He moved to the Information and Technology side and became a project manager in Dubai and Bahrain. He moved to the United States in 1994 and worked as a director for a textile company. Then he became a Senior Vice President at Cognizant for about 15 years and then for the past year he worked as a Senior Vice President and Head of Insurance at Zensar Technologies.
James is blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and college sweetheart, T. Chitra, on June 30th, 1982 in Chennai. James helped raise his 2 daughters with patience, discipline, humility, and joy. He taught them to sing songs, geography and map reading, how to drive, and the love of God. He often took them on long family trips to see the natural beauty of the states in the USA. He then took them to see Paris, Spain, Italy, Australia, India, Greece, Turkey, Australia, and plenty of other beautiful places.
James was an educator at heart. He was happy, joyful, so funny, extremely intelligent, and always had time to answer a question or call his friends and family. He was a dear friend to so many people and will be missed by his loved ones.
James is survived by his wife, Chitra; his daughters Deepika and Divya and their husbands Varun and Neeraj;his grand children Arjan, Kiaan, Armaan, and Lily; and his sister, Manjula. He is preceded in death by his brother, Stanley; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA.
