James Lamar Jefferies, affectionately known as "Lemon" by his family and friends, entered into eternal rest on July 30, 2025. Born to the late James Marshall Jefferies and Fannie Mae Dover Jefferies, he now rejoins in glory his beloved wife and soulmate, Parnice Davis Jefferies.
Fondly called "Jeff," he was a devoted member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon. He lent his voice to both the Vernon Choir and the All-Male Choir, participated actively in the Senior Citizens Ministry, and was a dedicated Sunday School attendee. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Jeff led a fulfilling professional life as a truck driver for Clarkson Trucking and Overnite Transportation before retiring. He was also a certified electrician who generously shared his skills by repairing appliances for family and friends. Known for his humor and warm spirit, he enjoyed solving word search puzzles, bringing laughter to those around him, and sharing breakfast with fellow retired truck drivers. Jeff was preceded in death by his sisters, Jereleen Brackett and Mable Samuel; his sons, Jeffery C. Jefferies, James E. Jefferies, and James Paul Gist; and his grandson, Bernard Jefferies. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Gloria Jefferies; his son, Johnny L. Jefferies (Mot); his sister, Beulah Washington; his sister-in-law, Burdie A. Garnett (Sam); and brother-in-law, Dr. A.L. Brackett. A loving grandfather, Jeff is remembered by ten grandchildren: Tiffany Davidson- Brooks (Tyrone), whom he helped raise as a daughter, Derrick Davidson (Travika), Travis Davidson (Jessica), Cassandra Johnson, Xavier Jefferies, Jordan Jefferies, Scott Smith, Chris Jefferies, Josh Jefferies, and Anthony Wilson. He was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by a special aunt, Emma Houston; daughters-in-law, Dorothy Mae Jefferies, and Rosa Davidson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives were brightened by his kindness, wisdom, and humor.

Tiffany always spoke with fondness and respect for her grandfather. He challenged her, made her laugh, and made her feel loved. I know the family will miss him dearly.
