James Goerger Obituary
Goerger, Jr., 79
James (Jim) N. Goerger, Jr., 79, passed away on January 10, 2023. He was born to James and Margaret Goerger on February 8, 1943 in Farmville, VA. His wife, Carol; parents, and brother, Tom predeceased him.
Jim was raised with his brothers on the family dairy farm in Felton, DE. He enjoyed doing mechanical work as a hobby. He graduated from Felton High School with his class in 1961. He studied at the University of Delaware and completed a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1965.
He married Carol in June 1968 and they moved to Smithfield, VA. They both attended Trinity U.M.C. for 50-plus years. He served in many capacities at Trinity, and led a bible study, most every Sunday. He worked at the Newport News Shipyard for several years and eventually went to work at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard - where he retired in the early 2000s.
Jim is survived by his son, Nick (Anita); daughter, Michelle; brother, Robert (Sue); brother, Richard (Debbie); and three grandchildren: Zachary, Josh, and Seth.
Services were held at Trinity U.M.C., Smithfield, VA on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
