James “Jim” Curtis Hunt, 87, of Waxhaw, NC passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 31, 1938, son to the late James A. Hunt and Evylen Pitcock Hunt. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife Ada “Lynn” Hunt.
Jim was an avid fisherman, and a motorcycle enthusiast who rode at the national competition level. He served 20+ years at JAARS as a volunteer serving Bible Translation. Jim volunteered with Samaritan’s Purse, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, and church groups to serve those in crisis and need in the name of the Lord. Jim was a successful salesman in the Wholesale Auto Parts industry, winning awards for his many accomplishments. Jim was known for his smile, quick wit, sense of humor and numerous funny stories. Jim was very wise and a good mentor and godly example to many. In his last days, he couldn’t wait to be with his blessed Lord and his beloved wife, Lynn of whom he missed dearly. Jim loved his family and friends and will be missed by all.
Jim is survived by his sister, Joyce Cook (John) and brother Robin Wayne Hunt (Marianne). He is also survived by his nieces Shawna Paige (Gary) and Heather Koepke (Michael) and nephews John E. Cook (Linda), Robbie Hunt and Brian Hunt (Lisa) and 7 grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service with burial to follow at Waxhaw Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
