Mr. James Daniel “Jim” Potts, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Surry County, NC, on July 29, 1943, the son of the late Hubert Potts and Lucy Johnson Potts. Jim was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a truck driver most of his working career. Jim served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an aunt, Fannie Potts; a sister; and brother, Charles Potts. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Hawks Potts; a daughter, Amy Patrick (Willie); a son, Bryan Potts (Monica); three grandchildren, Keeshon Patrick, Chandler Potts and Liza Potts; one great-grandson, Brady Patrick; special cousins, Louise Rippey, Gary Hawks and Phyllis Hicks; and his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Joann Boger. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Bannertown Baptist Church with Pastor Don Charles officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 on Monday June 17, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
