Larry Huell Potts, 76, a resident of Culleoka, died Sunday, August 24, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Larry was born on May 24, 1949 in Maury County, TN to the late Horace Potts and the late Icie Byrd Potts. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1967 and served in the United States Army during Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic. On March 9, 1971 he married Debbie Workman Potts that preceded him in death on March 11, 2005. He enjoyed and owned several classic cars and most recently a 1957 Chevy. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandkids.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Tiffany and Stephen Woods of Waverly; son and daughter in law, Eric and Jennifer Potts of Culleoka; two sisters, Ivey Parr and Beatrice (Jimmy) Duvall both of Columbia; six grandchildren, Dalton Woodard, Peyton (Chase) Dale, Bayleigh (Chase) Flewallen, Lexie (Logan) Cunningham, Chanler (Garrett Potts) Potts, and Gillian (Luke) Adkins; six great grandchildren, Ryder Dale, Bryson Dale, Deacon Dale, Langston Cunningham, Dawson & Hudson Flewallen; and a great granddaughter on the way Tatum Adkins due in October.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Wesley Potts, Buster Potts, G.C. Potts, Eva Mae Potts, Ruby Malugin, Mary Alice Jones, Mabel Goodwin, Barbara Cole, and infant siblings, Patricia Potts, Jack and Jill Potts.
Pallbearers will be Dalton Woodard, Chase Flewallen, Chase Dale, Logan Cunningham, Garrett Potts, and Luke Adkins.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Caris Hospice.
