Michael Timothy "Spike" Jones, 66, departed this world for his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 in Columbia where he has been a lifelong resident.
A celebration of life for Michael will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Inurnment will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Michael was born on October 6, 1959 in Columbia, TN to the late Harvill Hite Jones and the late Bobbie Claire Johnson Jones. He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1978 and served in the United States Air Force from 1978 until he was honorably discharged in 1981. Michael has been working for King’s Daughers’ School for eighteen years where he was a much loved maintenance guy that was considered family to the staff and residents. He loved the outdoors; kayaking, bicycling, and fishing where he felt connected to God’s creations.
He is survived by three sisters that adored him, Jenny Jones Hutto and her husband Roy Augustus Hutto, Mary Kathleen Jones, and Sharon Jones Cole and her husband Danny Wayne Cole; uncle, Robert Jones and his wife Jean; nephews, David Michael (Cassie) Ring, Brett (Whitney) Cole, Roy Evan (Tammy) Hutto, Wesley Scott (Courtney) Hutto; niece, Candice (Matt) Campbell; and his extended King’s Daughters’ family; and several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece Victoria Leigh Prosser Parsons; and nephew, Thomas Shane Cole.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to King's Daughters' School 412 West 9th Street Columbia, TN 38401 in memory of Michael.
