James (Jim) Allan Swift of Rolla, MO passed away peacefully July 09, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Jim was born March 26, 1951 in Crookston, MN to Hugh and Eleanore Swift who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his late wife Kay Swift, brother Ernest Swift and sister Cheryl Wehrly. He graduated from Crookston Central High in 1969. After graduating he worked as a farmer and then moved on to be a finish Carpenter. On August 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to Bernardine Froehler and later parted their ways. On February 02, 2002, he united in marriage to Kathryn Ruth Kinsel.
Jim loved his family, especially his children and grandsons. He also had many hobbies which included hunting, reloading, fishing, archery, camping, taking drives to the Rocky Mountain, and he also loved playing cards and board games. Later, in life when his Alpha 1 slowed him down he enjoyed target shooting and most of all spending time with family and friends. If he wasn’t busy doing any of his hobbies, you would find him at local gun shop or range. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and enjoyed these entertaining activities.
He is survived by Chad Swift (and his wife Amanda) of Ft. Collins, CO., Melissa Gallier (and her husband Joel) of Timnath, CO., Grandson Joshua Gallier of Greeley, CO., Nicole Swift of Ft. Collins, CO. and Grandson Donovan Logan of Ft. Collins, CO. In addition, Jim is survived by four stepchildren, Shane Kinsel, Shannon Payne, Stephanie Kinsel, and Sherry Kinsel and their families. Three siblings, Hugh Swift Jr, of Farmginton, MN, Lyle Swift of Harrison, OH, and Tom Swift of Denver, CO. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 19, 2025 from 1:00 pm -3:00 pm at the Diamond Event Center 1325 S. Bishop Avenue Suite B, Rolla MO 65407. A celebration of life will also be held in Crookston Minnesota at a later date.
Memories and condolences can be left on the obituary at the funeral home website.
The nightly ceremony in Washington, D.C. will be dedicated in honor of your loved one on the day of your choosing.
