George Onsby Piatt died 07-08-2025 following a long illness. He was born 03-11-1941 to the late John and Eva (Pittman) Piatt in Hollaway, Ohio. The youngest and last surviving of 11 children. Raised very poor, he was a self- made man who taught himself auto mechanics, carpentry, woodworking and animal husbandry. He dairy farmed in Ohio for 25 years and worked at Alsco Anaconda in Gnadenhutten retiring after 30 years of service. He then moved to Missouri where he and his son designed and built two homes, one he and his wife lived in, and the other houses his son. Several other buildings he designed and built were utilized to work on and restore antique tractors, of which he was both an admirer and a collector.

He loved animals, especially horses and dogs. He was an avid reader of history and the Old West. He traveled all 48 states and Mexico in his youth. In retirement, he and his wife, Mary, bought a motor home and traveled throughout the mid-west, enjoying many festivals and tractor shows.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary (Geltz) Piatt and their 3 children, Michael W Piatt of Bunker MO, Donna K. (Keith) Williams of Prospect, Ohio and Georgia L Roth of Bonne Terre, MO. He has 4 grandchildren Benjamin Williams, Henry (Kandi) Williams and Helen Williams all of Ohio, and Wyatt Roth of Bonne Terre MO. Additionally, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews, with an especially close relationship to Dale "JR" (Linda) Piatt of Cape Girardeau, MO. It is further important to acknowledge the special friendship he shared with Danny Wisdom of Bunker, MO.

May he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dent County Animal Shelter, in Salem MO.
