James "Jimmy" E. Lane, age 76, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Community Hospice. He was born in Miami, Fl. on February 14, 1949, to Ben and Elizabeth Lane. Jimmy had lived in Tampa, FL. and Vidalia before making his home in Tattnall County in 1983.
Jimmy enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring after 33 years at Plant Hatch, where his contributions were well regarded by his colleagues.
Jimmy was deeply passionate about life beyond his career. He found joy in hobbies such as fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. Whether spending tranquil moments at the coast, the mountains, or the lake, he embraced the great outdoors with enthusiasm. Yet, perhaps his greatest pride and joy came from his family, especially his grandbabies. They brought light and laughter into his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
While Jimmy did not serve in the military, he was a proud member of the Patriot Guard, dedicating his time to honor fellow veterans who have passed away. His commitment to honoring those who have served exemplified his deep respect for their sacrifices and was a testament to his compassionate spirit.
He is a member of Pineview Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Peggy Rogers.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debbie Bradley Lane of Reidsville; his daughters and sons in law, Theresa Lane (Randy) of Midway, Alisha and Matt Dutton, and Kayla and Matt Blocker all of Glennville; sister and brother in law, Teri and Alan Johnson of Vidalia; special "Ma", Laverne Bradley of Reidsville; grandchildren, Rebecca, Ben, Devon, Harrison, Hadley, Hayes, Ames, and Mattie Jaymes; great grandchildren, Savanna, Rayleigh, Denley, Amelia, and Abigail; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00pm on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the Glennville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from the Pineview Baptist Church with the Reverend Gregg Usry officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Bradley, Lance Bradley, Lee Sikes, Mike Burns, Keith Dyal, and Mark Monfils.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Patriot Guard and Faith Riders.
Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
