James “Jimmy” David Porter, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was born in Alamance County to the late Franklin Pembleton and Mamie Lee Russell Porter. He was the husband of 59 years to Judy Williams Porter who survives.

Jimmy retired from Chandler Concrete and attended Shallowford Christian Church. He enjoyed family beach trips and surf fishing. He hunted in the early part of his life, and enjoyed watching NASCAR races and wrestling. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Williams Porter of the home; daughter, Julie Porter of Elon; brothers, Pete Porter and wife, Pat of Graham, Doug Porter and wife, Marcye of Alabama and Larry Porter and wife, Debbie of Kentucky; sisters, Kathy Watts of Orlando, Florida and Jo Anne West of husband, Earl of Whitsett. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruth Lucas, Bonnie Stephens, Rebecca Van Horn, Janie Birchett and brothers, Henry, Eugene, Wade and Roger Porter.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Shallowford Christian Church by Rev. Steve Regan with the burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12-1:45PM on Wednesday prior to the service and other times at the home of his daughter.
