James Winston "Jimmy" Johnson, 74, passed away October 17, 2025.
Jimmy was born on January 14, 1951 in Coronado, California to Winston Carnell Johnson and Patricia Claire (Seaborn) Johnson. He was a lifelong member of Millwrights Local 1529 of Kansas City. He later became an instructor at the Carpenters, Millwrights, Floor Laying training center until his retirement.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Johnson. He is survived by his four children: Wendy Martinez, Lawrence, KS, Billie Collins, Iola, KS, RoseMary Johnson, Rossville, KS, and Winston (Jennifer) Johnson, Billings, OK; grandchildren: Brandon (Phoebe) Newman, James Newman, Courtney (Brandon) Andres, Kristofer (Kylie) Collins, Darci Collins, Tiffany Rhoads, Jonathon Rhoads, Joseph Lewis, Alex Parker, Hanah (Keegan) Anderson, Austin Parker, and Tyler Parker; 13 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; siblings: Steve (Kathe) Kraly, Bridget Angelique (Dan) Vasque, Kimberly (Steve) Jarret, John (Carolina) Kraly, and Dana Baker; many nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, Olga Simpson.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov 1 from 1-2pm at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, with services to follow at 2pm. Burial will be at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, in true James and Edna Johnson fashion, you can make a donation to COLLINSAINTQUITTERS (can be left at the funeral home) and all of the money will be used to help underprivileged children have a better Christmas. If you knew them, you know how much joy it brought to them to give no matter if they knew you or not.
