James Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harwood Home for Funerals and Cremation Services on Mar. 31, 2026.
We are saddened to share the passing of James Dewayne Jones on March 30, 2026, at the age of 55.

Born in Buncombe County on October 15th,1970, Dewayne was the son of Bill and Aileen Scott Jones.

James will be remembered for his humor, and most of all his caring, compassionate, and generous heart. He had a passion for cooking, loved good food, and enjoyed spending time playing pool. He was loved by many and leaves behind a community that will greatly miss him.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Rhonda Sawyer and her husband, Tom, of Sherrills Ford, NC; his niece, Heather Sawyer and her fiancé, James Ramey, of Troutman, NC; his uncle and aunt, Woody and Becky Scott, of Fairview, NC; and his good friend, John Lewis of Black Mountain, NC.

A special thank you to Swannanoa Valley Health and Rehabilitation for taking care of Dewayne through the years.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Harwood Home for Funerals in Black Mountain, NC. A graveside service will immediately follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain, with Pastor Bruce Robinson officiating.

Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
