James E. Kanehl
Passed away on December 26, 2023 at the age of 79.
James graduated from Homestead High School in Mequon, WI. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. Jim was an aircraft and helicopter maintenance mechanic and instructor.
He was a sheet metal journeyman working in the family business, Walters Sheet Metal. He finished his career at Yeager Bakery.
Jim loved to build "things", minibikes, go carts and even a couple of dune buggies, a tractor and a little Jeep.
He loved aviation and was involved in local chapters of the EAA and the PRA, Popular Rotorcraft Association. He loved to fly model airplanes.
He loved the outdoors, boating, fishing, and hunting. He spent many summers at the family cottage in Montello enjoying the time with his friends and family.
James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol A. Kanehl (Nee Kobliska); sons Andrew J. Kanehl and Aaron J. Kanehl; granddaughter, Madelyn Pitel Kanehl and sister Joy Houghton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmore Kanehl and Gladys Kanehl.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1875 N. Calhoun Rd., Brookfield form 2:00 PM until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 PM.
