James Kathios Obituary
Born February 14, 1922. He was the son of George and Mary (Mullin) Kathios. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon 7stars.
He was employed by the Public Service Company at the Schiller Station in Newington for 38-years as a Watch Engineer and a member of the management team.
He married the love of his life, Jeannie, in 1950 and they enjoyed 53 years together. He was a kind and caring gentleman who enjoyed playing cards with all of his friends at the local senior community centers several times each week. He also enjoyed spending summers at York Beach doting on his grandchildren. He was most proud of his children, and told everyone that the family he raised with his wife was the greatest accomplishment of his life.
The widower of Jeanne (Barton) Kathios who died in 2003, he is survived by his six children Maureen Kathios and husband Neil Brown of Nottingham, David Kathios and his significant other Rebekah Needham of Berwick, ME, Sharon Kathios Conley of Berwick, ME, Dennis Kathios of Dover, James G. Kathios, Jr. and wife Linda of Pelham, Dr. Daniel Kathios of Santa Fe, NM, a brother Spiro Kathios and wife Gloria, a sister Dorothy Kathios Garvin and husband Bill, a sister in law Ursula Carroll and husband Bill, a brother in law Robert Reckendorf, a cousin Helen Veilleux and husband Nel; eight grandchildren Christopher and Sarah McGlone, Jenny, Jason, Katie, Holly and Nicholas Kathios, Jillian Conley and a great-granddaughter Sandra Singvongsa and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church, corner of Chestnut & Third Sts. Burial will follow in St. Mary New Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Father Fritz Cerullo, O.S.A. for his ministry at St. Mary Church, 25 Third St., Dover, NH 03820.
