James Ashley Keltner, a man of extraordinary wit, ambition, and creativity, departed this world on July 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy full of life, love, and laughter. Born on September 30, 1972, in Springfield, MO, James, known for his sharp dressing and love for Star Wars, was a man who truly lived life on his own terms. He was a beacon of inspiration, reminding us of the sage words of Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try."
James was a proud resident of Carthage, Missouri for 25 years, moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, after many years returned to his home of Carthage, Missouri. His loyalty and dedication were evident in his professional life as he worked tirelessly in the advertising industry, created his own business, KA Advertising in Bella Vista, Arkansas, leaving the advertising industry in 2019. His creativity shone brightly in his work and his hobbies: he was a talented artist and a passionate photographer, and he loved to express his love for life through his cooking. A dedicated member of Sigma Nu at Missouri Southern State University.
In his personal life, James was fiercely loyal, particularly to his family and his beloved cats. He is survived by his sisters Nataly (Robert) Patterson and Aimee (Robert) Short, whose lives were enriched by his unique blend of humor and wisdom; loving nieces and nephew, Mary, Kyle, Tia, Brett and Grace. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Keltner, and his mother, Michele Short. What mattered most to James was his family, his cats, and his art, and he lived a life that celebrated these passions every day. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation." This was certainly true for James, for whom life was a continual exploration of creativity, love, and joy.
