SHELBY: James Darrell Kendrick III, born on March 8, 1987, in Oakland Co., MI, passed away in Rutherford Co., NC on May 23, 2025, at the age of 38. A devoted father, dedicated craftsman, and passionate outdoorsman, James lived a life marked by love for his family and the simple pleasures of nature.
James was a skilled welder who worked diligently for many years, earning the respect and admiration of his peers through his commitment to quality and precision. Beyond his professional life, James had a profound love for the outdoors.
In the kitchen, James was known for his love of cooking, often preparing meals that brought his family together around the table. As a single father, his children were his greatest priority. He dedicated his life to nurturing and providing for his three beloved daughters: Emma Cheyenne, Olivia Ann, and Autumn Rose, who remain forever grateful for his unwavering love and guidance.
James is preceded in death by his son, Cameron James Kendrick, who remains dearly missed and fondly remembered. His legacy continues through his surviving family: his parents, James Darrell Kendrick Jr. and Holly Ann Ogg Kendrick; his siblings, Brandy Kendrick, Aubrey James Kendrick (Courtney) of Gastonia, NC, Elizabeth Smith (John), Richard Allen McCauley (Wendy) of Dunn, NC, Krystal Melton of Dallas, NC, and Rebecca Darnell (Eric) of Kings Mountain, NC. He also leaves behind seven nieces and seven nephews, as well as his grandparents, Wilmer and Eleanor Ogg, and grandmother, Hubertine Perlberg. James's family extends to include three uncles and three aunts, all of whom cherish his memory.
