James Kennedy

James Kennedy, 82, of Gilbertsville, PA, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was the devoted husband of Judith (Slaby) Kennedy, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage this past January.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 20, 1943, Jim was the son of the late Charles Kennedy and Mary (Heffernan) Kennedy.

Jim was a proud graduate of Connelley Vocational High School, Class of 1961. He went on to become the owner of SK Advertising, where he built a successful career and remained dedicated to his work until his retirement in 2001.

In his younger years, Jim was deeply involved in his local community, serving on the zoning commission, being active on a board at Saint Aloysius Church, and being a proud founder of the Pottsgrove Soccer League.

A man of strong faith, Jim was an active and devoted parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally and a longtime participant in the Men of Malvern retreat.

Jim found great joy in spending time outdoors. Whether he was golfing at Hickory Valley Golf Club, skiing, camping, canoeing, or traveling with his beloved wife, Judith, he embraced every opportunity to enjoy life and the world around him.

Above all, Jim cherished time spent with his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being with those he loved, especially his grandchildren, who meant the world to him and brought him his greatest joy.

Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife, Judith Kennedy; his children, Paul J. (Lalena) Kennedy, Susan K. (Christopher) Wilkes, and Matthew J. (Tanya) Kennedy; his grandchildren, Samuel Kennedy, Benjamin Kennedy, James Wilkes, Bridget Wilkes, Charlotte Wilkes, and Marcus Kennedy; and his sisters, Eileen Landers and Patricia Wilson.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Charles Kennedy.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 610 Pine St., Bally, PA 19503. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Stowe, PA.
