Susan Scanlan Obituary
Born in Havertown, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1945, Susan was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Whitfield) Anderton.
Susan loved sprucing up and decorating her home, always finding new projects for her husband, Michael, to take on. Fall through Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she especially loved celebrating Thanksgiving. She found so much joy in the Christmas season, especially in the quiet beauty of watching the snow fall. Family was always number one to Susan, and she loved each of her children deeply. Her desire to create a warm and inviting home came from how much she valued time together. Even as a child, she dreamed of being a mother, and she carried that love into everything she did. She always made birthdays feel like a big deal and looked forward to summer picnics when everyone could be together. Becoming a grandmother brought her so much happiness, and she treasured every moment she spent with her grandchildren. She especially looked forward to and loved attending the many sporting events her grandchildren participated in and was an enthusiastic fan.
Susan was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother who will be deeply missed.
In addition to her husband, Susan is lovingly remembered by her children, Steven Scanlan, Thomas Scanlan, Heather (Christopher) Carr, Beth (Brian) Nyce, and Kevin Scanlan; her grandchildren, Colin, Aiden, Aislinn, Alexis, Quinn, Owen, Maille, Brynley, Ciaran, and Declan; and her siblings, James (Beverly) Anderton and Mary Anne (Joseph) Duff.
In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Scanlan-Martin; her grandson, Liam; and her sister, Nancy Anderton.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464, is entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences may be shared at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
